A few minutes before new year's eve of 2000, Fry, a delivery boy from Pannicci's Pizza is sent to deliver a pizza to I.C. Wiener in a Cryogenics Lab. Finally realizing it was a prank phone call, Fry "accidentally" got frozen for a thousand years. He wakes up on December 31th of 2999, and among others, he met an one-eyed alien Fate Assignment Officer named Leela.

Fry found out he has one living relative, his great, great, great, great, great... nephew Hubert J. Farnsworth. When Leela told him that he is gonna be a Delivery Boy once again and that she needs to install him a career chip, he escapes from the Laboratory and tries to call his nephew from a Suicide Booth (thinking it was a phone booth). Waiting in line, he meets a robot named Bender, that decided to go inside the booth with Fry. They managed to not get killed in there and became friends.

Meanwhile Leela was searching Fry in NNYC with the police, and when she found them, Fry and Bender escaped by going inside the Head Museum, where they met Leonard Nimoy's head and other celebrities. Both got caught by the cops using excessive force. Leela told them to stop, but when they (the cops) made fun of her nose, Leela knock them out, giving Fry and Bender time to escape again.

Fry and Bender decide to go underground NNYC, where Fry discovers the ruins of Old New York. He realized there that he lost all his life and friends, when suddenly Leela shows up. Fry decided to let Leela install his career chip as a Delivery Boy, but instead, Leela removed her chip, because she also didn't liked her job.

Fry, Leela and Bender, being fugitives of the law, decide to visit Fry's nephew, Professor Farnsworth. After confirming that Fry is actually his great, great.... uncle, the Professor shows them his Starship and his collection of wires. Meanwhile, the police surrounded the building, and they decide to escape using the Space Ship. They take off and the police started to shoot to the ship, but between the fireworks of new year's eve of 3000, they manage to scape to space. Leela mention that they are fugitives, but Professor Farnsworth had the career chips of his old death crew that used to work for him in a Delivery Company called Planet Express. Fry got a new job, ironically as a Delivery Boy, but this time, he was very happy about it.

Bender: Listen buddy, I'm in a hurry here, lets try for a twofer!
(Bender uses a coin with a cord... then, inside the Suicide Booth a voice speaks)
Voice: Please select mode of death. Quick and painless or Slow and horrible
Fry: Yeah, I'd like to place a collect call...
Voice: You have selected Slow and horrible
    Bender: Great choice!

This time the crew had to deliver a package to a planet inhabited only by robots. The only one that could deliver the package was Bender, because the robots hated humans. Fry and Leela decided to rescue him because he got captured. They disguised like robots and went into the city where Bender was became an idol. The robots captured Fry and Leela and sentence them to work as robots work on planet Earth. This was a fake, because the real rulers of the planet, the Robot Elders, decided to kill them. Robot Guard 1: Halt!
Robot Guard 2: Be you robot or human?
    Leela: Robot...we be
Fry: Uh yup! Just two robots out roboting it up!
Robot Guard 1: Administer the test
Robot Guard 2: Which of the following would you most prefer? (A) A puppy? (B) A pretty flower from your sweety? or (C) A large properly formatted data file?
    Robot Guard 1: Choose!
Fry: Is the puppy mechanical in any way?
Robot Guard 2: No. It is the bad kind of puppy
Leela: Then we'll go with that data file
    Robot Guard 2: Correct
Robot Guard 1: The flower would also have been acceptable

Mr. Bender's Wardrobe by ROBOTANY 500
After the Professor invented the Smell-o-scope, a device to smell things from a great distance, Fry casually smelled the more repulsive thing in the universe. The computer calculated the trajectory and it was going to fall in NNYC destroying everything. The crew when to a mission, destroy the Garbage Asteroid but they failed because the Professor made a mistake with the bomb he built. The only hope the city had was to hit that ball with another Garbage ball. Since there was no garbage in NNYC, Fry taught people how to make garbage and the Professor saved the city.

Mayor: And Fry. We owe a tremendous debt as well. If not for your 20th century garbage making skills, we'd all be buried under 20th century garbage!
Leela: Should we really be celebrating? I mean, what if the second garbage ball returns to Earth like the first one did?
Fry: Who cares? That won't be for hundreds of years!
Farnsworth: Exactly. It's none of our concern!
Fry: That's the 20th century spirit!

Amy also decided to make Fry her boyfriend because her parents, Leo and Inez Wong, were trying to find her a date on the ship. Zapp changed the original course of the cruise that ended in a Black Hole destroying the ship. All the crew escaped but Bender lost the only fembot that he really loved.

Zapp: Kif, I'm feeling the captain's itch.
Kif: I'll get the powder sir.
Zapp: No. The itch for adventure! Prepare to change course.
Kif: Sir this is a leisure cruise. Our path was set by the travel agency.
Zapp: That's for schoolgirls! Now here's a route with some chest hair.
Kif: But sir, that course leads directly through a swarm of comets!
Zapp: Yes, comets! The icebergs of the sky. By jackknifing from one to the next at break neck speed, we might just get some sort of gravity boost. Or something. It's time to shove a jalapeņo up this ship's tailpipe!. Divert power from the shields, full speed ahead!

An alien race, the Omicronians, from Omicron Persei 8, decided to invade Earth because the signal from a thousand years ago of a TV series called "Single Female Lawyer" went out in the final episode. This of course was Fry's fault because he was responsible for this in the 20th Century. The Planet Express crew decided to represent the show because Fry was the only one that actually saw the beginning of that episode. With Leela as the main character... a female lawyer named McNeal, Bender as the camerabot and Fry as the director, they saved the Earth once again.

Leela: Fry, you're wasting your life sitting in front of that TV. You need to get out and see the real world
Fry: But this is HDTV! It's got better resolution than the real world

Leela: How can you trick people to drink something that comes out of your behind... it's disgusting!
Worm Queen: Is it? Honey comes from a bee's behind, milk comes from a cow's behind and have you ever used toothpaste?
Fry: Whose behind does that comes from?
